EMTRAIN held the second 2011 Strategic Coordination Board meeting on 21 September 2011, hosted by Novartis in Basel. All current ESFRI BMS Infrastructures were invited to explore opportunities for collaboration and exchange in education and training matters.

EMTRAIN has become an affiliate of ENQA, the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education.

EMTRAIN was presented at the international meeting for the celebrations of the Clinical Trials Day in Vienna on 20 May 2011.

The first issue of inside_EMTRAIN, a newsletter aimed to foster better communication and understanding among the members of EMTRAIN has been published.

The Orpheus Network, Organization for PhD Edcuation in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in the European System, is one of EMTRAIN's key stakeholder groups in context of PhD programmes. EMTRAIN contributed two presentations to their 2011 Annual Conference and provided travel bursaries for three selected PhD students from Croatia, Georgia and Hungary.
